Axelrad Family Shiviti
Date 2005
Description
A profusion of Moroccan influences enhances the design for this Shiviti, commissioned as a gift to a synagogue in Houston by the husband in honor of his wife's stepping down as president of the community. To decorate the walls of a sanctuary is one of the highest honors bestowed on a congregant, especially with a Shiviti.

Olive branches decorate the verses in the Menorah.
The tablets of the commandments always are above the Bima [pulpit] in the synagogue and henceforth sit in the crown of this document.

"Know before Whom you stand - Before the Lord, the Holy of Holies, blessed be He"
A Jerusalem landscape provides the base for the Menorah and is always to symbolize the soul of our faith.
The symbolically misaligned gold Jewish star holds blessings upon us all ... for health, happiness, family, long life and professional success.
